As a specialized agency of the United Nations, UNIDO promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) for poverty eradication, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the worst human and economic crisis for decades, leading to a decline in manufacturing output, spending, incomes and employment. But we have seen that economies with a strong, diversified industrial sector are making a faster recovery. UNIDO is working with its Member States and partners to respond to the crisis, to recover from its socioeconomic consequences, and to build a better future together!

Did you know that UNIDO established its first Investment Promotion Services in 1976, which later became the Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (ITPOs)? Since then, nine ITPOs have been created in both hemispheres, constituting the ITP Network with the objective to reduce development imbalances by facilitating investment and technology agreements between developed, developing countries, and economies in transition!
